Graduation Slideshow @RESVT #Memories #Community #ThankYou

Thank you again for sharing your incredible children with me!  It has been an amazing year!  I shared with my students that they will forever be my "deeply loving and generous class", and that is because of you and these beautiful children you have created!
Students worked hard this week, and even today, to finish their vlogs, trailers and films!  Please take time to watch each one.  Some may be rough, but they are full of heart and great care.
Enjoy your summer!!!!
Thank you!!!!!

RES READS Comes To An End! @RESVT @MichaelBerryEDU

What an incredible way to end the year!  We asked that every kid read for at least 20 minutes for two weeks during RES Reads, if everyone did that, we would reach our goal!  You can see that kids read passionately and well surpassed their goal!!!!  Please continue to nurture their love of reading by reading with them over the summer!  Kids can begin by reading the RES Reads book they got to keep forever!
Again, all of this was possible because of my friend Bill Jennings and "The Cheryl Jennings Reading Programs"!
Have a great summer and read, read, read!!!

You can see kids reacting to the total minutes read with great pride in the photos below.  You can also see the awesome new books kids got to read and choose to keep forever!

The vlog captures when our box of RES Reads books came in!  We were sooooo excited!!!

We Are From! @kwamealexander #Poetry #Vermont @RESVT #VTED

We are ending our year by coming back to poetry.  For me, poetry is such a beautiful way to begin and end the year as writers, because there is so much freedom within this genre.
We first read poems by Kwame Alexander to get inspired and to get back to the rhythm of poetry.  We then read "I Am From" poems by my former students and reflected on who we are and where we come from.
Lastly we stepped out into the sunshine, surrounded by the green mountains, to let our ideas flow.  When we came back together to share and support one another, it was so incredible to hear their voices shining through in their work.  I am so excited to take this journey with them and read their final poems!

Today We Kicked Off RES Reads!!! @RESVT #LoveReading #VTED

Today we kicked off RES Reads!  This is a reading program that is near and dear to my heart.  When my close friend and team member Cheryl Jennings died, her husband Bill wanted to keep her legacy alive by creating The Cheryl Jennings Reading Programs.  Through this program, we hope kids will get excited about reading over the summer as they fall in love with some of our favorite authors.  Thanks to  the generosity of Bill Jennings and The Cheryl Jennings Reading Programs, each child will get to start the summer with a brand new book they get to keep and read!
We sent kids home with more information about RES Reads and a reading log to start filling out! Please help us reach our reading goal by having your child read AT LEAST 20 minutes each night--seven days a week.  Our hope, of course, is that kids will read well beyond the expected 20 minutes of reading each night!  Thank you for your support and for helping to keep my friend's memory alive!

If you would like to support The Cheryl Jennings Reading Programs, you can contact me, or the Northfield Savings Bank where the fund has been established.  Thank you!

Cheryl Jennings learning and loving life!
