Students Felt The Need To Do Some Sharpie Activism After Reading "George"...

to give the book a proper title!

Soon after publishing George, the author Alex Gino regretted the title they chose for the book.  They have asked for readers to give the book its proper name, Melissa's Story.   After reading George, these fabulous fourth graders asked if they could do the honours.

We Learned Katy Perry's Song "Firework" in Sign Language!

We love to sing it and sign it and dance to it!  It's a really fun movement break when we transition from one part of the day to another!

Spreading Peace & Love By Planting Sunflower Seeds With Mrs. Self's Class

Dale Newton, a farmer and retired teacher, is asking Vermonters to plant sunflowers to show the people of Ukraine that they are not alone.  Mrs. Self and I gathered our students together to plant sunflowers at RES to help spread feelings of love, peace, & community.  Like me, you may also choose to plant sunflowers at your house.

Mrs. Self began by sharing the book, Love Grows Everywhere, by Barry Timms. Then we went out to Neighborhood Forest to plant seeds together.  We also sang and signed for them, "With My Own Two Hands".  We can't wait to get together again to teach them the song and to plant our seedlings into the ground.
