During reader's workshop, we have been reading poems to inspire and feed the poems we write in writer's workshop. We have also become collectors of deliciously descriptive words. When someone finds a "delicious word", they add it into their writer's notebook to help them strengthen their writing! When someone reads an inspiring poem, they call out, "Poetry Freeze!" and everyone stops and listens as they read aloud the amazing poem they found. Then they share with the class what makes the poem such a great piece of writing! This work has helped us write our first poems, and they are AMAZING!!!
